Bernard Millaire – President and CEO
Bernard has been working in the construction industry since the very beginning of his career. In 1965, he started working as a roofing apprentice in residential, industrial and commercial roofing. As his skills progressed and his knowledge developed, not only as a roofer but also as a sheet-metal worker, Bernard quickly grasped that his interest lied in industrial and commercial type roofing structures.
After acquiring shares and occupying various positions in a few companies as well as gaining field, operational, administrative and management experience, Bernard decided it was time he stop ignoring his innate entrepreneurial instincts and get into business for himself; co-founding Ron Robinson Roofing Inc. in 1992. In 1998, he acquired all the shares in the company. In 2000, he renamed the company B. J. Millaire and Associated Inc. and it was sold in 2003.
After taking a shot at retirement and realising that it wasn’t for him, Bernard founded B. J. Millaire Builders Inc. in 2005. In its beginnings, the company provided roof ballast vacuuming and general industrial and commercial restoration services. In May 2007, the company became an approved applicator of Siplast Lightweight Insulating Concrete Systems as well as Elastizell Variable Density Cellular Concrete introducing the vast potential uses of both lightweight concrete products to the roofing industry in Ontario.
In 2011, Bernard was presented with something a little different, recognized its potential and B. J. Millaire Builders Inc. spread its wings again with a new self-levelling, sound proofing flooring division. As foreseen, the need for these services spread and B. J. Millaire Builders Inc. became fully qualified to work in Quebec.
Since the companies expansion, services have been added that include: Shot blasting, Scarifying, Concrete repair and Epoxy Injection.
Melanie Müller –Vice President and Controller
Upon completing some post-secondary accounting and business management education at York University in Toronto and Algonquin College in Ottawa in the early 1990s, Melanie spent most of her young adulthood moving from place to place and trying out new jobs in an effort to find her niche, all while raising her two beautiful daughters, granddaughters to Bernard. After years of relocating and with a variety of different job experiences under her belt, Melanie found her way to Embrun in early 2006. Subsequently returning to school for a few refresher courses, she then found employment at a small company in Casselman which allowed her to continue to advance her office/booking-keeping skills.
Melanie eventually joined the B. J. Millaire Builders Inc. team in the spring of 2010. Working only part-time at first to help with some office duties, she quickly learned the ropes and now is an indispensable part of B. J. Millaire Builders Inc. having earned herself the position of Vice President and Controller.
